Tahiti is by far the largest and the most famous of the 118 islands of French Polynesia. It is a blue-green oasis of peace, joy and sensual dreams. The island consists of two circular sections, so it looks like number 8. The center of each section is a volcanic mountain.
Paul Gauguin, the famous French painter who lived there, was enchanted by this island and also inspired by local women. One of them was his mistress, and she was a model for his paintings. A breathtaking underwater world and dolphin and whale watching trips are waiting for water lovers here. On arrival you will most likely be given the Tiaré Flower behind your ear. Wearing this flower indicates your relationship status. A flower worn on the left ear means the person is taken and on the right ear means available. Don't forget to watch Tahitian women performing their world famous dance, decorated with flowers.
The tropical climate can be divided into two main seasons - the rainy season and the dry season. The first season, known as "Polynesian summer" lasts from November to April. Frequent and unpredictable storms occur during the rainy season, the air is stifling and it is often cloudy. The average temperature is around 27-30° C.
The advantage of the Polynesian summer is the presence of less tourist traffic, so this is the perfect time for traveling and exploring the island. Opposite the rainy season is the dry season, which lasts from May to October. It is called the "Polynesian winter" when the temperature is around 24-28° C. This period is the high tourist season in Tahiti.

We recommend staying at Le Taha'a Island Resort & Spa. Le Tahaa is a luxury hideaway in the South Pacific, surrounded by gleaming beaches and bubbling waters. It ranks among the most exclusive places of French Polynesia. It is situated on a coral reef overlooking the island of Bora Bora. It is built in typical Polynesian style. It offers accommodation in luxury beach villas with a private pool or in suites on the water. The island is called "vanilla" for the fragrance, which will follow you everywhere.
